London Love

Posted by on May 16, 2013 in Current Issue, The Glam life | 5 comments

As some of you may know, I’m on a whirlwind month of travel as we set out for Italy where our son is getting married. As the flights directly to Rome are long, we decided to stop in London prior to our traveling on to Rome in order to time adjust (After a week my body is still trying to catch up to that plan)! But I’ve distracted myself with trips to my favourite stores and sights. I’m leaving you with photos of one of my all time top ten venues to visit in the world…and it’s not a fashion filled one, if you can...

What to Pack for Vegas

What to Pack for Vegas

This is a reblog of a post that I did for my friend Rhonda when she was traveling to Vegas a while back. Rhonda has friends going next week, and she thought this would help. Since this post was part of the old blog and one of the ones that didn’t transfer over, I decided to just give it a do over! Just after I got home from Europe I got this message on Facebook from a friend of mine, Rhonda. “Hey Suzie! I desperately need your help as I (a) don’t like to travel and (b) have no fashion sense and you are the Queen of Both!!:)...

What to Pack – Hawaii

What to Pack – Hawaii

That Rhonda! She’s off galavanting around the globe AGAIN ;) Just kidding. Rhonda is an RN and deserving of EVERY and ANY vacation she gets. This time, she’s headed to Hawaii and she’s asked me what to take with her. Now I know Y’all are not going to believe me, but when I go to Hawaii I travel with carry-on only!!!  I have my Hawaii suitcase down to a science.  The key to making this vacation easy and stylish is to take only items that serve double duty and can be washed in either a sink or a machine (where we stay...

Vegan Leather Leggings

Vegan Leather Leggings

Vegan Leather Leggings-Wilfred; Sweater-Talula; Tee-Joe Fresh; Shoes-Ivanka Trump; Clutch-Winners Vegan leather leggings are about as close to vegan as I’m going to get! Y’all know how much I love to eat real meat, so you’re probably asking why not real leather leggings. I considered them, but when I put these on and felt them you’d never know they weren’t real leather. When the sales lady told me she’s had and worn hers for months and they haven’t...

Rehearsal Dress Dress Rehearsal

Dress-Calvin Klein; Shoes-BCBGeneration; Clutch-BCBG Max Azria No, this wasn’t my Easter outfit. It’s a dress rehearsal for my rehearsal dress! You see, I’m planning my outfits for THE wedding of the year (my son’s and his Missie’s) to take place on the Italian seaside in May. The rehearsal dinner is a “funny pizza party” (I think the wedding planner meant to say fun pizza party, but we all fell in love with that...

Tough Enough to Wear Pink

Tough Enough to Wear Pink

Boyfriends, Sweater & Belt-Joe Fresh; Shoes and Clutch-Arnold Churgin Shoes (old) Today, while the rest of you are wearing green, I’m tough enough to wear pink! I did start my day with a green smoothie though. That way I’m green on the inside with ZERO guilt about being all girl power pink on the outside. Plus, my back yard is really green so I took  my  camera outside for this post to get a whole lotta green in the shot. So yeah, I’m “tough enough”...

Back of My Closet

Back of My Closet

I found this dress way way way in the back of my closet when I was on the cleaning binge I talked about a few weeks ago. I don’t think I’ve worn it for over 10 years! Now, I see no reason why I shouldn’t rectify that this season with all the paisley and crazy pattern that’s hitting us for spring. That, and it’s a shirt dress that is made of super soft and flimsy fabric, instead of the bandaged and stiff look of season’s past. And the sleeves…they...

Life is Black and White

Life is Black and White

One of the hottest trends for spring is pattern mixing. I have to admit, I’m hooked on it. I love that there are pretty much no rules…or there are and I just can’t fathom what they could be! The moment I saw these pants, I knew my take on this trend was going to be the same as life…life is black and white. I rarely see grey. I’m decisive and intentional…and these pants paired with this shirt scream “that was no...

Cruel Girl in the City

You’ve seen this little Cruel Girl shirt dress before. It was featured when I did the Langston’s Western Wear boot give-away while back in Edinburgh. Well, that post was all about the boots so I wanted to give this little dress a do over with a different look that takes it out of the country and into the city. Dress-Cruel Girl c/o Langstons Western Wear; Vest-Banana Republic (0ld); Shoes-Zara (old); Purse-Halston Heritage (old)  Just yesterday, I cleaned out my closet (can you...

Chorizo, White Bean, and Fennel Stew

Chorizo, White Bean, and Fennel Stew

I’m not going to lie, this recipe was heavily influenced by THIS recipe that I saw for  Chorizo and White Bean Stew in Bon Appetit Magazine. I decided it need to be Chorizo, White Bean, and Fennel Stew instead! Now I’m not a world class chef, but there’s rarely a recipe that I look at and think, “I’m going to make that EXACTLY the way they tell me to”. It likely has more to do with my authority figure issues than any cooking skills I may or may not possess! What initially caught my eye was the combo...
