…because UrbanCountryStyle is about way more than wearing boots and buckles to show your allegiance!
UCS Fashion Week-MondaySuzieStyle
I needed to pull out a pair of peep toes so that my pedi could see the light of day again (Maui was sooo last week after all!). Well, as often happens, the rest of the outfit just sort of came together. I like starting that way. From the shoes up I say (and my Grandma on my Dutch side is smiling down on me right now)!
OK, maybe she would have missed the fashion point on the ripped jeans, but I’ve always been the rebel in my family and I like to think she kinda, would’ve liked that in me a little(once I grew into it/grew up and stopped being a dumb-butt rebel of course).
Shoes and Purse – Michael Kors (I know it’s not fashionable any more to match the purse to the shoes but this is different…they’re Michael Kors from two different seasons thank you very much). Oh that’s right, I forgot to grab the purse when I was racing the timer on my camera to take this shot. Well just for you, I’ll share the one when I remembered to grab it, but dang it!!! It cut my head off again
Jeans -Gap Always Skinny (bought with work-related-holes-without-the-work already supplied
)
Jacket – Tristan from years ago
Sweater – Joe Fresh Spring 2011
Cami – White House Black Market (the nicest cami’s I’ve found so far)
Necklaces – Blue crystal from a street vendor in the fashion capital of the world…Chemainus BC!!! and Gold chain from Fine Finds Yaletown, Vancouver.
Belt – Thrifted
My happy toes say Happy Monday y’all!
Love,
Suzie

I know, y’all are expecting a master bedroom reveal. But due to technical difficulties; such as, I lack the physical strength to perform the last step without help (I hate it when that happens), you will have to settle for a look at the new “drapes” I got when I was downtown on Tuesday.
Haha! So, they say that flares are the new thing for spring. I was excited to hear that because, for me, this is one of the most flattering cuts for my body type (which is why I love when 70s styling is reinterpreted so I can have an excuse to wear it). The jeans and belt are from the Lucky Store (and if you thought flares wouldn’t catch on again, the sales woman had a hard time finding my size cause she said they’re going out the door like hotcakes). The top is BCBG Max Azria and the purse is one of my favorite garage sale finds.
The boots will be recognized by at least one reader, who might have been with me in Vegas and witnessed them being purchased and worn while winning my millions on the John Wayne machine
.
Have a good day, and don’t give up on the bedroom reveal. I’m almost done, just that one last little (well, it’s not little it’s actually heavy) step.
From my house and home to you and yours,
Love,
Suzie

Today I have to head to the beach house and meet the general contractor, the stone mason, and the fireplace guy. Immediately after that I want to head out and find some grass paper for the basement fireplace wall, look for drapes for the dining room, and a mirror for the main bathroom, so I had to find an outfit that works on an active construction site and can transition into the downtown design world. Here’s what made the cut:
The jacket is Banana Republic, Spring 2011, a little reward for taking part in the great closet clean out last week. Jeans are my favorite William Rast skinnies (OH, I just heard William Rast has made a deal to knock off their jeans for Target!). Blouse is from Zara 2 years ago and boots are 4 year old Nine Wests. The scarf came off the street in New York, and the purse is a recent Las Vegas purchase from Michael Kors. Camera was one of the contents of the Christmas duffle
(for those of you who saw Mr. S’s amazing wrapping job!-you can search for it on this site).
Have a great day!

I have to head into the city to look at gas fireplaces for the beach house master bedroom, then have lunch with Mr. Salmon in Yaletown. This is the look I’ve chosen for the task:
I love this coat! It has beautiful stitching and was only $60 on sale at Sears a couple of years ago (Nygard Collection). The jeans are my favorite William Rast skinnies purchased at Macy’s 2 years ago and worn about a thousand times since! The white blouse is one of about 10 that I own (Jones New York Luxe, The Bay Spring 2010) . My uniform is usually a white blouse, jeans, cowboy boots, and a great buckle. The boots I am wearing today are Jessica Simpson’s that I found at Nordstroms in Seattle a couple of years ago. Funny story, they have her signature on the sole, and I would never wear them in the snow in case I was stamping her autograph everywhere! The necklaces were both purchased from a wonderful little boutique in Yaletown, Vancouver BC called Fine Finds. I’ve had them for about 2 years. The purse is Michael Kors bought in Chicago at the end of last summer using Macy’s fabulous out of state/country discount!
Even thought certain items were expensive, I have gotten a lot of time and use out of each and every one. In fact, except for the purse, nothing is this (or even last) season. Some items, such as the coat, were great finds and I still smile when I put them on. I think that’s worth way more than being trendy!
Hope you have a great day! And don’t forget to dress to impress YOU and no one else.
Love,
Suzie

Lucked out on the way back from Seattle the other day and hit up the Premium Outlet Mall Ralph Lauren store. That blouse [Ralph Lauren Sport] was $20! and the Jeans [Ralph Lauren Premium Denim] were $59. Shoes are Aldo, free from my closet
.
Have a great day!

What a great job of wearing boyfriend jeans, a flannel shirt, and boots in a flattering manner. I find this to be surprisingly complicated, and often give up in disgust when I realize I look like my father-ie an actual large, gruff, 60 year old farmer who has just returned from the field.
Haha! I know what you mean! I often have to try a few combinations and then photograph myself before I feel like I might be close to getting it right. The photographing tip came from the Nate Berkus show before I started my blog BTW. Thanks for stopping by!
